(Swaad) 38 : 32
فَقَالَ إِنِّي أَحْبَبْتُ حُبَّ الْخَيْرِ عَنْ ذِكْرِ رَبِّي حَتَّىٰ تَوَارَتْ بِالْحِجَابِ

Then he said: Indeed I loved these horses so much that they caused to forget me from the remembrance of Lord until the sunset.

“They caused to forget me from the remembrance of Lord until the sunset” in the verse means attraction of horses caused Dawood to prevent him from Evening prayer which is intended for remembrance of the Lord. When the well-trained horses were presented before him, out of immense affection Dawood forgot to perform the evening prayer till the sunset. Then he commanded to drive away them until they vanished from his sight. See explanation 2: 152; 20: 14, and 29: 45.
